Veneers

We are specialists in porcelain laminate and composite resin veneers.

Veneers are thin shells of ceramic (porcelain) or composite resin material that are placed over the tooth and bonded to the tooth surface to correct such problems as gaps between the teeth, chips, cracks, stains, discoloration, worn down enamel, slightly uneven or irregularly shaped teeth.

At CLEO Dental Clinic, we are among Costa Rica's most experienced specialists in composite resin and porcelain laminate veneers, which we fabricate in our own state-of-the-art dental laboratory.

The differences between porcelain veneers and composite resin veneers (also referred to as bonding) are several, and based on our experience we are confident we will be able to help you choose which procedure is the right one for you.

Composite resin veneers are more affordable and can generally be done in one sitting. The process is reversible, as little or no enamel is removed when preparing the tooth for the veneer, and they can be repaired in case of breaking or chipping. On the other hand the resin is not stain resistant, it is not as strong and does not reflect light as naturally as the ceramic, and will require much more upkeep.

Porcelain laminate veneers take longer to complete, but they are much stronger, stain resistant and are the more natural looking of the two options. They cost more but need less maintenance, and will probably save you time and money in the long run. However, if they break they cannot be fixed and must be replaced, and before placement of the veneer the tooth has to be slightly reduced in order to accommodate the shell, which is something to take into consideration as the natural tooth will therefore be permanently changed.

Veneers require no special maintenance, other than good oral hygiene and regular dentist check-ups and cleanings.
