Periodontics
(Gum Disease)
In our practice we help patients to achieve and maintain the best possible periodontal health.
Our care encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth. Periodontal or gum treatment has two main components: oral hygiene and removal of plaque. We can reach deeper areas and clean out the gum pockets (deep scaling).
Periodontal Disease
What are periodontics?
Periodontics are a dentistry specialty that studies the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting the tissues (bone and gums) that support and fasten the teeth in the jaw for the maintenance of good health, function and aesthetics of teeth.

This disease is infectious, caused by the bacteria normally found in the mouth. Bacteria will leverage and invade to people who have a genetic predisposition; these are more vulnerable because its capacity of defense against bacteria doesn't work properly. Also occurs in people who have an inadequate, oral hygiene accumulate irritants such as calculus (Tartar) and causing inflammatory disease such as gingivitis and periodontitis.
A silent disease
More than half of adults have this illness, but most don't know. Many times, gum disease is difficult to detect; however, this disease is the leading cause of loss of teeth in 35 years old adults and older. If not detected in time it can reach a state progress in which the tooth moves in excess and ends up "falling".
